Warning about Publishers Clearing House scam

a consumer alert tonight January is Publishers Clearing House season and they'll be giving away thousands of dollars in the weeks to come however crooks have cooked up a new scam to target older PCH fans Heather cattalo joins us now with an alert about winning letters that are not what they seem no they're not a new year brings a new Publishers Clearing House giveaway and you may soon see those TV commercials for their next big award but unfortunately scammers know that and they may use it to target people like your mom and dad we all secretly dream of the prize patrols showing up at our door Ellen Olson did too so she was stunned when she received a letter and check from Publishers Clearing House the letter said she was the winner of PCH is 2.5 million dollar grand prize the $5,000 check was to cover taxes and fees but her daughter Beth Ann says something wasn't right I told her to cash the check and the other thing was mentioned do not tell anybody not tell anyone it sounded fishy what Beth Ann did next is what you need to do if a call or letter claims you are a winner check the Publishers Clearing House blog and type in the word scam you'll find all the warning signs that you are about to be taken and I Google Publishers Clearing House to see how they would have notify winners and they said they just come to the door they don't call you they don't send you any letters good thing she did PCH says it will never call or email in advance to say you're going to be a winner and they will never ask you to pay taxes or any money to collect your prize that $5,000 check fake and had ellen cashed it she could have lost 5 grand it's terrible the greed in this system is just so so bad now so it might be a good idea to remind your older relatives that Publishers Clearing House will never tell them in advance that they're going to win a win is a win there are no costs involved don't get taken it's just something so wrong about it and they get to mom and dad is not right no no Heather thank you

  1. Because I know if I ever win 5,000 a week for life, it better not be a scam!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. I get these now – in my spam mail. E.mails telling me, I am a winner. They want directions how to get to my house, etc. Also, they 'need me to complete the prize eligibility form," which of course asks for personal information. Beware, guys!!!

  3. I just got a phone call from Jamaica saying i won 1.8million and a Mercedes. They new my location and talked for a bit then told me to call them right back so i looked up the number and it said it was a scam.

  4. I legitimately won $1000, they do indeed send you an email to tell you that you won, they also send an affidavit to fill out and return by certified mail. I have won twice now, the big prizes they show up to the door, under $5000, you will probably get an email and a certified letter. When in doubt call them directly. Best wishes to all. I also took a screen shot of my winning moment too though. 🙂

  5. Just got the PCH call. I sort of participated in the call. They told me to go to the post office to pick something up. They wanted to know when I would be back home. They would be here with a check for 1.8 million. They would pay 99% of taxes. They would escort me to the bank. They said they were surprised I was not excited about my prize. I told them I didn't trust that they were real. I was 98% sure they were not. Now, thanks to these testimonies, I know for sure. Now, I'm worried someone will show up at my door!!

  6. I WAS NOTIFIED BY MAIL ME AND 1 OTHER PERSON WERE IN RUNNING OF 2 MILLION DOLLARS.THE DRAWING WAS TO BE ON JOHNNY CARSON.I SET UP TO WATCH THEY HAD NO DRAWING.IT S A SCAM.SOME PEOPLE ARE PROBABLY GIVEN SOME MONEY SO THEY CAN SAY SOMEONE DI.D WIN.THEY MAKE MILLIONS OFF SELL OF MAGAZINES OF PEOPLE HOPING TO WIN. 12 YEARS LATER I WENT 9 MONTHS OF THEM SAYING WE WILL PICK SOMONE TO WIN 5 THOUSAND A WEEK FIR LIFE .DRAWING ON FEB 28 .FEB 12 A MESSAGE NO IT WILL BE DRAWN ON APRIL 23.APRIL 18 DRAWING WILL BE ON JUNE 28.REALLY SCAM.I SEEN A PIC YEARS AGO FOR ONE OF THESE WINNERS .A STORE FRONT WITH A BOTTLE OF CHAMPAGNE AND ROSES LEANING UP AGAINST THE WALL OF A OUT OF BUSINESS BUILDING.IT LOOKED SO SCAMED. THEY ARE CROOKS .THEY SELL MAGAZINES

  7. (876)573-7290 called me (said Kingston, Surrey County, Jamacia but he said he was in Ohio) and tried to say they were PCH just now. They said I won $250,000 but would need me to register for something and pay $250.00 for 1% of taxes on it. I initially answered the call for fun but it was sad thinking about what would happen if someone actually believed them.

  8. The whole thing is bullshit. They told my wife to enter the sweepstakes and she was entered. Then another email arrived and it said you must buy one product to complete your entry. In the ad on television it says no purchase necessary. Well which is it? What a crock of SHIT!!!!

  9. If you ask me, pch is a scam itself. Signed my mother up when I was 10 years old. They just keep sending things and having her send them back for 11 years now. Yes, a sweepstakes that literally has you go back and forth for 10+ years. Ridiculous. I legit just got her to stop participating in this game of theirs just a few months ago.

  10. In this case.. I still wonder why The Fed or law authorities step in to shut them down ?
How many year they had been doing this kind of things for so long???

This company is a direct sales magazine description and in this case… they had false advertising… the federal or authorities can shut them down immediately.. otherwise, there are more people jumping into their trap….. so. Who false? Or idiot here.

  11. Ok but they need to retitle this video cause, PCH themselves are not the scammers. Plus PCH even tell you in their letters they DON'T call you or send it in the mail that you won.

  12. I got a phone call last weekish saying it was PCH, they were working with the credit card companies (or words to that effect lol) All I had to do was answer a few short questions about which CC I preferred and I'd be entered for the big drawing that was coming up uh…in like a month I think. The woman spoke near prefect English unlike the other mush mouths you deal with when this type of thing comes up, well either way I said no thanks and hung up. PHC is an American thing right?

  13. It happened to my mother in law today. WE TOOK A RIDE TO STOP PAYMENT AND WENT TO SHERIFFS OFFICE TO REPORT IT. And I got to minister to the caller. I got him off guard. I ASKED HIM IF HE KNEW JESUS AS HIS PERSONAL LORD AND SAVIOR. He did not know what to say, I got him off guard and he was tongue tied. We won’t hear from him anymore

  14. It’s lame how they keep saying “older” people you know. Anyone could be the target of a scam like this if they didn’t know any better.

  15. No one here in Arizona never wins the PCH.money go where money is. people at living in nice house
