Keyboarding in SAM – Students – Timed Writings



welcome to cengage learning's self-training video series for keyboarding and Sam in this video we will review timed writings there are two types of timed writings one is inside the lessons and is considered a training so that you can practice it as many times as you want one is a timed writing outside of the lessons and these are treated as assessments let's start with a time driving inside a lesson once you're in the timed writing the instructions will be listed on the screen begin keen and the time will start when you begin to type for timed writings that focus on accuracy or accuracy and speed your GOM or graded words per minute number of errors and accuracy percentage will be displayed once the timer is up if the focus is only on speed then only your do am will be displayed review your errors and then click continue you will be given the option to retry the timed writing or to move on to the next exercise now let's move to a timed writing outside of the lesson remember these are treated as assessments and your instructor will control the number of attempts you have to complete it correctly the timed writings are held in their own assignments listed alongside the lessons and all focus on accuracy once you're on the timed writing the instructions will be listed on the screen begin keen and the timer will start when you begin to type the number of attempts you have to try the timed writings are listed on the left side of the screen your do am or graded words per minute number of errors and accuracy percentage are calculated once the timer is up you review your errors and then click continue you'll be given the option to retry the timed writing or to move on to the next task thank you for taking the time to review this video additional support information can be found at the student support page

  1. Okay, I dunno if she can see this, but all these judge are copying speed. To really assess your TYPING speed after(and before) you learn copying, time yourself typing from the heart. Then you will truly know how fast you type. But until then, you only REALLY know how fast you COPY!
