  1. This is amazing. I'm constantly reminding people that Pride is a protest started by trans women of color, throwing rocks at the police men that brutalized them in the street. Most call it a celebration, and they're not technically wrong. But it is still Very Much a PROTEST. We have come so far, but sill have miles and miles ahead.
In me, you've got a trans ally for life. 🏳️‍🌈

  2. I've never understood how cis-white gays could be transphobic or racist like? Ever heard of Marsha P. Johnson or Sylvia Rivera??????? Especially in America man, like wtf, in other countries, sure, those two specifically had less of an impact but that doesn't mean we can leave the black LGBTQ+ community behind and move on because "Gay marriage is legal now". No, the fight isn't over until every single one of us can walk home from the bus stop without the fear of being assaulted or killed.

  3. If someone from button poetry read this : please guys consider putting english subtitles/captions in your videos! As a channel which apparently give space for marginalized folks you should be aware that a lot of people who are deaf also want to enjoy those piece of poetry! I'm not deaf myself so I can't talk for them but I'm not an native english speaker and most of the times I can't entirely get what the poets say, so it would be great if you put captions.

  4. this is really good but pride wasn't started by a trans woman. like im assuming the poet is referencing Marsha P. Johnson but in his own words he was a gay drag queen, he took offense to being called a woman. Even further than that, Stonewall was incited by a biracial butch lesbian, stormé. Marsha himself said he didn't arrive til after 2 am, and Sylvia Rivera was coked out in a park somewhere. Pride, and all gay rights movements, have been started and continued by gay people. the T wasn't even added until the 90s the communities are so different

  5. They gave me chills literally. Tears in my eyes. Heart beating with the pain reflected in their words. So so needed. If you want to learn a bit more about transculture and especially if you're a cis white person or a gay white person please educate yourself, learn about marsha p.jonhson, black transwomen and transwomen of color ARE THE REASON we have pride months and protest in the first place, pride month started as a PROTEST AGAINST POLICE VIOLENCE. Read books written by trans author, movies which tells their stories, there's this series that I really adore «Pose» tackle a lot of those issues.

  6. This is something that needs to be remembered every pride. This need to be remembered all the time. There would be no pride if not for trans women of color and drag queens. We would not have the rights we have today if not for them. So we need to give thanks everyday that we are able to live our lives comfortably cause God knows they didn't

  7. i literally got into an argument with a transphobic cis white bi man at pride who told me i wasnt nonbinary

  8. I loved it. Most of my trans friends are white, but they are always upset about how the gay community treats them. And yes, it seems like black people get shafted every time we have a revolution about rights. It's insane to me. Why does someone's skin color matter? 🙁 it's just a sad, sad state of affairs we live in these days.

  9. [TRANSCRIPT]
To the transphobic cis white gay men at pride
Yes, this rainbow flag is just what I needed
    To re-declare my colorful flamboyance
That you swallowed to the back of your throat
To plant another flag that forgets the death toll of black and brown queers
I can see why this is your favorite holiday
The time you get to step outside of your picket fence body
Remind yourself that you were once oppressed
Use your Donald Trump keycard to swipe into your marginalized experience
Get to shake your ass to disappearing transmen that you left somewhere over the rainbow
Ain’t like a gay white man to remember all the colors but black?
To turn my protest into a white soldier shoot out
To bleach his asshole mouth clean of the shit he says
Did you think I would forget
That you thought Willi Ninja couldn’t duck walk all over Madonna?
How you queened a white mother when she couldn’t step foot inside The House?
Couldn’t survive the shade the children threw with their hands?
White is always trying to imitate color
Did you see how Hannah Montana made her post-race return?
    Miley figured out “What’s good?”
Figured out that white made of all colors was a white lie
ROY G BIV sounds like a black made concept to me
Because what does whiteness know about color
When black absorbs all of its problems?

Gay rights would be nothing without a transwoman of color behind it
Because how would you know what a rainbow is without our skin
    Refracting you into a cause?
But they will still hold a mausoleum for you
Talk about the gay men who started shit, who acted up in the past
Who thought gay was the new black
Forgetting that gay has always held its darkest shades close
I guess silence has always equaled black death
How white can never be the new n***a
Ain’t like whiteness, they can be the dictionary?
They can be the top and bottom of my mouth
You got to write a matrimony and decide to leave the frontlines
Ain’t like a man to pull out when he’s done?
To focus on how far he came?
To never finish a job he started?
Did you know that pride was birthed from a woman with a penis?
Most of us still can’t call 911, we are assaulted
We are called a trans n****r in the streets
We are followed home with catcalls and fear lodged in our throats
I wonder, do you still think about the death toll when you come/cum?
Think about how there is no cure for the forgotten
How there has never been a flag to stop us from being murdered?

**Sorry if there are errors, I didn't have time to double check but I tried my best!

  11. This is a really wonderful and powerful poem! It really opens your eyes to the reality that even in a community of “acceptance and equality” there is still hatred and ignorance. It’s horrible that so many people of color in the community are victimized and then don’t even get talked about (especially trans women). If it brings a little more joy, Philadelphia added the colors black and brown to their pride flag to represent the people of color in the community. I am white but I understand how important this topic is and that it needs to be discussed, so I thank you for bringing awareness with this poem!
Love and support to those struggling with these issues or any issues and I hope that your life get better
If it helps, have a penguin hug

  12. Yesss, Beautiful! I personally cannot relate to this but these voices deserve a platform to speak and more people need to listen. Really wonderfully done. Be proud and be safe. I hope you live the happiest life as who you are. Everyone deserves to. I cannot understand being in a minority and still shitting on other minorities. Everyone needs to love each other. That's what pride should truly be about. 🖤
