I need to do some research. Where do I begin? A great starting point is to use the library search box at the top of our library’s homepage. If you know the title or author of the materials you’re looking for, you can choose those options from the drop down menu. You can also choose an individual campus to start your search with as well. So what topic is it that you’re researching today? Anxiety disorders. To get started, we can simply enter your topic into the search box. Press the search button to begin. That looks like a large list of results. you’re right! It found over 800,000 different items through this library search, but they may not all be exactly what you’re looking for. This screen that we’re on- the quick search- is showing you everything from books, ebooks, articles, media, and even many more types of items. I want to start with a book. Then I think the books and ebooks tab will be our best bet. Now we’re looking at only 279 books or ebooks that are available through the library. If you click on a result’s title, it will give you more details about that item. The book’s campus location, call number, and availability are all listed on the results screen. You can even place an item on hold. Is this an e-book? How do I access it? To access an e-book, all you’ll need to do is click the link that says “click here to view this ebook” and login with your Borrower ID and PIN. Your Borrower ID is your my Seminole State username and your PIN is the last four digits of your social security number. That’s a lot of results. Is there a way to narrow my topic even further? Yes, you can click on the subject list to choose a more narrow focus for your topic. Child psychiatry sounds interesting. Let’s check the box and click the apply to search link to focus our results. There are only six matching items. Yes, but there are 105 others available at colleges and universities around the state. You can use the UBorrow service to request them. Click the UBorrow button to see the statewide results. How do I place the request through UBorrow? Any physical books you find in your search can be requested. Click the UBorrow button. You’ll use your Seminole State log-in credentials to initiate the request. Remember your borrower ID is the same as your my Seminole State username and your PIN is the last four digits of your social security number. Choose the campus where you’d like to pick up your item and place your request. I feel much more confident about my project. Thanks for helping me today!
