CAPK delivers 11,000 books for local charities


IT’S A SWEET DAY FOR CAP-K! THE MOLINA FOUNDATION OF SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA, A NATIONAL NONPROFIT FOCUSED ON REDUCING DISPARITIES IN ACCESS TO EDUCATION AND HEALTH, HAS GRANTED CAPK MORE THAN 11,000 NEW BOOKS. THEY WERE DELIVERED TODAY. THE BOOKS WILL GO TO ITS PROGRAMS AND CHILD- CENTERED NON-PROFITS INCLUDING UNITED WAY, THE KERN LITERACY COUNCIL AND THE ASSISTANCE LEAGUE BAKERSFIELD. JAMES BURGER: “THEY GET THESE BOOKS OUT INTO COMMUNITIES WHERE THE KIDS MAYBE DON’T HAVE A WHOLE BUNCH OF BOOKS IN THEIR HOME LIBRARY AND IT’S A PROVEN FACT AS WE KNOW THAT THE MORE BOOKS A KID HAS AT HOME THE BETTER THEIR CHANCE TO SUCCEED DOWN THE ROAD.” TAMI ALL OF THESE BOOKS WERE PACKAGED FOR DELIVERY LAST MONTH WITH VOLUNTEER SUPPORT AND BOXES AND PACKING SUPPLIES DONATED BY THE ROSEDALE HIGHWAY LOWE’S HOME IMPROVEMENT STORE.
