Book of Sorrows Verse 3 Destiny Lore | Myelin Games

previously,
The three heirs to the Osmium Throne, Aurash, Sathona and Xi Ro have fled their home continent,
the Osmium Court following an invasion. Seeking revenge and the continuation of their species,
they discover the Worm Gods hidden in the depths of the Fundament. The three sisters
made a bargain with the Worm Gods forming a symbiosis and agreeing for their race to
carry their larvae. They are granted power and immortality, however they must continue
to conquer for eternity, through exploration, cunningness and war. As they do this, they
feed their worm and become more powerful, however in-turn their worm will also demand
more of them, consequently leading to a never ending cycle of conquest.
By consuming the worm, Aurash is renamed Auryx, King Morph, Sathona renamed Savathun, mother
morph and Xi Ro renamed, Xivu Arath the knight Morph. Auryx is now male, whilst Savathun
and Xivu Arath remain as his two sisters. The worm larvae is introduced to their species
and the proto-Hive is born. The syzygy has now occurred on the Fundament, which is the
alignment of the moons causing a titanic God wave, which will kill trillions.
Two overarching forces are revealed, the Sky and the Deep. It appears that the Sky is synonymous
with the Light and the Deep is synonymous with the Darkness.
It is revealed that the syzygy and God-wave was caused by the Traveler, an agent of the
Sky and was an attempt to trap the worm gods on the Fundament. The worm gods are an agent
of the Deep and called life to the Fundament as means of escaping through symbiosis with
another species. The proto-Hive have only two years before
the God Wave reaches them and so they devise a plan to escape the Fundament. They are taught
Sword Logic from the Worm Gods, which harnesses the power of the Deep. Using this, they cut
a wound in space, and escaped the Fundament through this portal like system.
The Proto-Hive skip between the 52 moons of the Fundament when they encounter the Ammonites.
6 armed, cephalopods. The Ammonites, are empowered by the Traveler and the Sky, much like guardians.
The worm gods provide the proto-Hive with signs and rituals that draw the power of the
Deep and the concept of Sword logic is further expanded.
Despite the war, Auryx, defies his nature and attempts to make peace with the Ammonites.
Auryx’s sister, savathun, true to her nature and conquest, kills Auryx for this weakenss.
In his death, Auryx creates his Throne world. Despite Auryx’s absence from the material
world, Savathun and Xivu Arath continue their crusade against the Ammonites, and even with
the Ammonites supported by a Leviathan, the proto-Hive are victorious. The Leviathan is
killed and eaten by the Worm Gods Eir and Yul. The Traveler flees.
Lets continue with Verse 3. Verse 3:0 Hive. This is the first mention
in the Book of Sorrows, that this story is about the Hive. For the most part people already
knew this due to Aurash becoming Auryx. Regardless, this verse undoubtable confirms the story
as the Hive origins. It also provides some insight into the evolution
of the Hive are how their units are formed. It says this, “A mother Wizard gets fertility
from a mate, or from herself. From the Wizard the spawn, from the spawn our Thrall, from
the survivors our Acolytes who contend. If they contend well, their worm is fed, and
from the well fed worm come Knights and Wizards and Princes.”
It implies that the Hive units evolve from Thrall and that as they kill, feeding their
worm they increased in power changing to greater forms of Hive, such as Knights, Wizards and
Princes. Verse 3:1, an incision, re-introduces and
expands on the concept of Sword Logic. I have dedicated a whole video on understanding this
concept, so please see that for further information. However, briefly, in this verse Savathun discovers
that they can use Sword Logic to cut through dimensions. Xivu Arath who nature is to be
at war, states that his sword is already sharp and has the ability to cut through space.
Xivu Arath cuts through dimensions and they step into the space where Auryx went when
he died, here they create their kingdoms, three kingdoms, their Throne worlds. This
is also why I believe the Sword World/space is the same as the Throne World. As per Verse
2:7, this dimension, this universe was actually initially created by Auryx’s will, the very
first time he was killed, when killed by savathun. Using their swords, charged with death and
killing, their able to enter this space voluntarily without dying and build their Thrones.
Verse 3:2 The High War emphases the Hive’s understanding and interpretation of Death.
Auryx and his 2 sisters enter a war, a war with each other, this war lasts 20 000 years!
And they do this not out of hate but out of love and worship to the Deep. You also assume
that this process has some underpinnings of Sword Logic and that with each kill, they
were increasing their own power. You can see that the Hive consider Death a gift, a gift
that allows their race to grow in power. We are also provided with more information
about “sword spaces”. It says this, “For twenty thousand years they fought across the
moons and they fought in the abyssal plains and lighting palaces of each other’s sword
space. And they killed each other again and again, so that they could practice death.”
I am making the assumption that the Sword Space is the same as their Throne World, mentioned
in Verse 2:7 and in Verse 2:7 it says that if they die within their Throne world it would
be a true death and that they would not return. So this verse, 3:2, very specifically says
that they kill each other, in each other’s sword space, not their own. For example, Auryx
would be killed in Savathun’s and Xivu Arath’s sword space but not his own. If he was killed
in his own he would not return. Once the three siblings had finished killing
each other for 20 000 years, Auryx created his court, called the High War. Anyone who
entered the court could Challenge Auryx and the court would act as a killing ground and
school for the sword logic. Savathun also decided to make her own court, called the
High Coven. I am not too sure if there is a link there between the Techeuns group, the
Coven, or if that is just coincidence. Xivu Arath, does not make a court, as she
believes the world is her court and she will rage war across it regardless.
Verse 3:3 fire without fuel, describes Savathun exterminating yet another race, the Qugu.
The Qugu are strong, powerful, loyal and like the Hive they are bound in symbiosis. They
are infected by a virus, a virus that compels them to cut off their own limbs and feed them
to their Gods, the jaw-beasts. The virus infected limbs eaten by the Jaw-beast has a secondary
effect of creating a nectar, which the Qugu drink to have brilliant visions.
Even though Savathun defeated the Qugu, Auryx decides to punish her for not protecting the
flanks of her fleet and he vaporises his sisiter’s warship. Dwelling within the ruins, Auryx
reminisces about the most recent killings, he says that in this century alone they have
killed 18 species. For a moment Auryx feels sorrow for the deaths, however he then reminds
himself that for the universe to reach the final form, they must wipe such parasites
from the material world. He further justifies the logic by saying, “if they were not parasites,
we would be unable to kill them, and they would still exist.” Auryx goes on to now say that his worm is
so large it requires entire worlds to feed. And that his astronomers predict that their
conquest has brought them closer to the Deep. This verse once again describes genocide and
justifies genocide through creating a perfect universe, all of which will allow Auryx to
commune with this over-arching force, the Deep.
Verse 3:4 is very self-explanatory and is narrated by Auryx. It reads;
“NO Savathûn! Xivu Arath! My siblings
We are betrayed. We will never live eternal. Our might shatters entire species. We inhale
the smoke of their burning. This is our compact with the Worm our God
—the worm makes us mighty. But as we wield this might, our worm’s hunger
expands. If we fail to feed it, it will devour us from
within. We have exterminated three hundred and six
worlds. And now I am certain —
My worm’s hunger grows faster than the might I draw from it.
We are bound by our covenant to obey our nature: eternal search. Eternal cunning. Eternal conquest.
But as we do this, my siblings, we feed our worms.
And the more we feed them, the hungrier they grow. Faster and faster.
Soon, my siblings, we will be so mighty, and our worms so hungry
That not with all our might could we possibly feed them.
And we will be devoured. WHAT CAN WE DO?” In Verse 3:5 we are introduced to another
race, Dakaua which is part of an intergalactic organization known as the Ecumene. The Ecumene
seems to have wide knowledge of the Universe and previously was in contact with the Fundament.
You are unsure how they made this contact, however you could speculate that the Ammonites
were also part of the Ecumene and when destroyed, the Ecumene lost contact with the fundament. The Dakaua discovered an interstellar spacecraft
which dated back 24 000 years, yes, it has been 24 000 years since Auryx and his sisters
escaped the fundament and conquered the Ammonites. And you may have been wondering what ever
happened to Taox, the Osmium traitor who was the one who started this whole story. Especially
since the proto-hive only lived for a maximum of 10 years, unless in symbiosis with a worm
and it now has been 24 000 years. Well, in the hull of the ship, the Dakaua found Taox
frozen in stasis. They unfreeze her and she provides intelligence on the Hive and their
leadership. It is revealed that the Ecumene have an army,
known as the Ecumene Status Army and they have already been at war with the Hive. They
have lost 17 separate worlds and state that all Ecumene face extinction from the Hive.
The card continues to read that they must target Hive leadership with maximum overkill
and achieve victory through clean sweep genocide. The most interesting thing about this verse,
is the way it is written. It is very similar to the griomoire cards for Rasputin. I likely
would not have recognized this, if it was not for a reddit post by HaraDoon which points
out a very specific word used in the card, “Caedometric release.” This word is used
in this verse and also in the Ghost Fragment Rasputin 5 card. On further inspection, this word also appears
in the original grimoire card, Ghost Fragment: Old Russia. Once again a link with Rasputin,
in this card it says “I believe it’s an annihilation-pumped caedometric weapon.” Without doubt this card is describing a defence
system similar to Rasputin. I need to research the Warminds more, however from memory, they
were created during the Golden Age, so I don’t believe this is an original warmind, but similarly
to how we used the technology of the Golden Age to create our defence system, the Ecumene
likely did the same. Verse 3:6 star by star by star depicts the
success of the Ecumene, Auryx says “The Ecumene war angels have killed me so many
times, that I dare not go out into the Universe, lest I need my might to protect myself. My
worm chews at my soul in Hunger.” Savathun also says, “I plot and plan. But I cannot
gather enough bloodshed to feed my worm. And the harder I try, the hungrier it becomes.”
Xivu Arath also says “I slaughter and kill but the harder I fight, the more my worm demands.
I too am at my end.” King auryx devises a plan to become more powerful
than ever before and this is required to defeat the Ecumene. He says “I know a way, but
it will require great power. More power than any one of us can claim.” Then kill me,”
says Xivu Arath, “and use that killing logic, the power you prove by killing something as
mighty as me.” So King Auryx took up his blade and beheaded Xivu Arath. At this point, Savathun also offers to be
killed by Auryx, however she says strangle me and as she says this, she has a blade behind
her back. If Auryx did strangle her, then she would have betrayed him for the second
time stabbing him with the blade. However, King Auryx turned with the speed and might
of Xivu Arath, and beheaded Savathûn before she could move. This scene involves both killing
logic and sword logic, which I have previously explained in a separate video. The card ends
with this “these were true deaths, for they happened in the sword world.
Then Auryx went to the Worm named Akka.” This is quite confusing because I previously
made the assumption that the sword world, is the same as the throne world and if killed
there they are not immortal. However, previously, They practiced for 20000 years in the sword
world, they practiced death, and what they did was they killed each other in the each
other’s sword world, so for example, Savathun could kill Auryx and Xivu arath in her sword
world, and Auryx and Xivu Arath could return from death, however if Savathun was killed
in her own sword world then she would not be immortal. So if Auryx killed them one after another,
immediately, how could they be true deaths, if he beheaded them both in his throne world,
they wouldn’t be true. If he was in Xivu Araths world, then only Xivu’s death would
be true and Savathun’s would be not. In order for both to be true, he would have to
go to Xivu Araths world kill hER there, then go to Savathuns world and kill her there. The word “true deaths” becomes even more
confusing, when we move to a later verse, were both Xivu Arath and Savathun return from
death. Regardless, the take home message is that Auryx has increased his power from killing
his sisters and he now heads for the worm god Akka. Verse 3:7 is a description once again by this
warmind like system of the Ecumene and I believe this has jumped forward in time, as the card
now refers to Auryx as Oryx. The Ecumene Crisis Council reveals it has predicted its total
extinction at the hands of the Hive and this will occur within 200 years. It describes,
how the now Oryx is infecting the Ecumene forces, that they are being abducted and returned
as compliant Hive slaves. The card states that all Ecumene clients should devote all
economic and cognitive resources to a countermeasure or the galaxy will be consumed. This use of
the word “Ecumene clients” reinforces that it is not just one species but a number
of species which are part of the galactic organisation. Verse 3.8 I believe jumps back in time and
describes how Auryx became Oryx and developed these taken powers, the ability to abduct
an individual and make them subservient. Auryx visits the Worm God Akka and says this;
“Akka my God, Worm of Secrets. I am Auryx, sole king of the Hive. I have come to receive
a secret. I want the secret power of the Deep, which you hold.” Akka responds “I give
no secrets,” Auryx says, “No, you give nothing. Giving is for the Sky. You worship
the Deep, which asks that we take what we need.” But you gave us your larvae, the
worm, and that is why the worm devours us now: because it was given, not taken. So I
must take what I need from you, although you are my god.” Akka says “You have not the strength.”
But this was a lie. Auryx had killed Savathûn his sibling and Xivu Arath his sibling, and
he had the sword logic of killing them. Auryx the First Navigator set upon his God with
his sword and his words, and cut Akka to pieces, and took from those pieces the secret of calling
upon the Deep. He wrote this secret on a set of tablets, which he called the Tablets of
Ruin. And he wore them about his waist. Then Auryx said, “Now I may speak to the
Deep, the beautiful final shape. I will be King of Shapes. I will learn all the secrets
of our destiny.” This is what I spoke about in the Sword logic
video. Auryx gains enough power through using sword logic by killing his sisters, which
allowed him to kill Akka. Following this he made the Tablets of Ruin which allows him
to call directly upon the Deep and better access its power. At this point Auryx, becomes Oryx the taken
king, and using the Tablet of Ruins and the power of the Deep, to take beings and transform
them to his will. As the card says, he now has the power to take life and make it my
own. This is the power he used in the earlier verse 3.7 against the Ecumene, abducting his
enemies and bringing them back as loyal Taken. The last verse 3:9, carved in ruin. Describes
how Oryx waged war on the Ecumene for a hundred years, until he killed the Ecuemene Council
on the Fractal Wreath. We do not have any further details about this location, fractal
wreath. It is important to note at this point that the Ecumene is not completely destroyed
but just their council, which I can only assume governs and guides the Ecumene in their military
matters. Now this is the confusing part, even though
his sisters Xivu Arath and Savathun were true deaths, killed in the sword world, Xivu Arath
rose from the blood of the Ecumene, saying “I am war, and you have conjured me back
with war” Oryx goes on for another 40 years of war, this time, specifically with the Dakaua
(a species aligned with Ecumene and now predicted to be weaker with the loss of the Ecumene
council), Oryx tricks the Dakaua pretending to make a treaty however this allows them
to be destroyed. From their ashes rose cunning Savathûn, saying, “I am trickery, and you
have conjured me back with trickery.” I don’t actually know how this is possible,
how both his sisters returned, however the explanations could be this; eother I have
misunderstood the sword world and throne world or maybe it could have something to do with
the difference between sword logic and killing logic or it could be linked with the Tablets
of Ruin that Oryx now possesses, and with that increased power, and as the card says
he has the power to take life and make it his own. Regardless, the card continues, and they wage
war on the remaining Ecumene forces for another thousand years, until they are completely
extinct and the only evidence of the Ecumene existence is this book, the book of sorrows
and the mind of Taox. I know right, what ever happened to Taox who
was found frozen in stasis at the beginning of the Ecumene war and provided intel to them.
Well, the card just states that she was never found. Also remember that as far as we are aware
Taox never consumed a worm consequently she could only live for 10 years, or maybe slightly
longer. Oryx has been at war for at least a thousand years, after she was taken out
of stasis. If she is still alive there should be a big plot twist on the way, which would
be really cool, maybe in the last calcified fragments. With the Ecumene defeated, the Hive are back
to where they started, they are once again faced with the same problem, how do they continue
to satisfy the hunger of the worms as they increase in power. To solve this problem, Oryx declares a hierarchy
of tribute which he declares as law. Starting at the bottom, Thralls kill as much as they
can and they feed their worm, they then pass the remaining power up to the next rank, the
Acolyte. The Acolyte does the same, killing enough to feed its worm and then passes the
excess power to their commanding Knight or Wizards. After the Knights and Wizards it
goes to the Ascendant Hive. The Ascendant Hive posses enough tribute to enter the Hive
Netherworld, from which they can pay tribute to Savathun, Xivu Arath and Oryx. This system
allows all of the Hive to satisfy their own individual worms, whilst encouraging the flow
of tribute to the superior Hive and hence the conquest of the Hive can continue. The card doesn’t really give a name to this
energy passed up through the ranks, it only refers to it as “tribute”, you don’t
really know what that is or what that looks like. However, I believe it would be safe
to assume some of the tribute is light, I don’t think all of it is light, as it has
not really been referenced yet in the Book of Sorrows, however I think the light is one
source of tribute and quite a powerful source. That brings us to the end of Verse 3, I love
the irony of this verse. The proto-Hive were initially at the bottom of the food chain,
struggling to survive, then they make this deal, and at first it appears that they are
immortal, however they still struggling to survive, only now they are competing against
their Worm. This never ending cycle of conquest is a problem they try to solve with the idea
of Tribute, so if you would like to support my channel and cant think of comment, feel
free to pay Tribute, by leaving the word Tribute in the comments. Once again it has been pleasure and I will
see you soon. This is Myelin Games, Peace.

  1. A coven is just the word for a gathering or group of witches I don't think there's a connection with here techions.

  2. +Myelin Games WAIT WAIT wait wait, WHAT IF, the sisters are GOLGOROTH AND THE WARPRIEST!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

    mother= golgoroth
    knight= warpriest

  3. This tribute you speak of is not mine to pay, as the equals in the hive Pantheon do not pay tribute to each other. However, I do have something that is so abominably horrendous that even you, a teller of stories will find hard to comprehend. This vile and forceful removal of power comes in the name of…. taxes. For centuries if not Millennium, these great governing structures have survived by feeding upon the work and toil of those of whom it controls. The hive in generosity don't allow any of their members to starve, save for the exceptions in those of whom are subject to their rituals, and even then the power those creatures gain is adequate compensation for their pain. Of which these jokes are the only compensation I can find from these great machines of progress.

  4. i cant hate on Oryx, all he is doing is trying his best to servie and protect his people, and all he did was follow the travler. its all thanks to the travler that the human race is in the state that it is in right now in destiny. i do feel sorry for crota his sisters and Oryx. we did what we did to protect humanity but with doing so we killed oryx his daugthers and sons. i would of rather had oryx as a a team mate then kill him

  5. The more hive kill the more powerfull they become. They feed their worm to grow stronger. The more we kill (we = guardians) the stronger we become. (leveling system) Maybe the traveler is also a worm?

  6. I imagine "true death" means they can't self resurrect. But they are still immortal and can still come back through the deep.

  7. Perhaps Öryx's sisters were brought back the same way he was. Through a supreme sacrifice to the worm in the form of their true nature just as they had to conquer the moons before Öryx was brought back.

  8. Thanks for everything you do. You have really helped me make sense of the Destiny Lore. Before your videos I didn't know if people wanted to Take or Fall or Awaken from this story.
Anyway, time for the next part. Here's my little Tribute.

  9. At this point you are in the game for me, the official narrator of the sky and the deep. The mediator.Much love as always.

  10. I think the reason they come back even though there deaths where supposed to be "true" would be because something as powerful as them, something that can tear the fabric of space, would leave ripples, so that there consciousness, as great as they would have to be, would fill these ripples and folds, so when something of great importance that represents them is done, there essence can pool back together and recreate them.

  11. Great job, but I had a question about one thing. In the verse one video didn't you say that all three of the sisters had named and transformed to Princes after five years? So they'd all be male at this point right?

  12. If the sword logic works this way then when he had enough logic or strength to kill a worm he replaced that worm in power level. He became the second step from the deep. Maybe if he has obtained the power of a worm then he is a worm? He was a giant in his throne world after all.

  13. I hate when people ignore engrams especially when theyre legendary…I was screaming because he wouldnt pick up the engram

  14. after we kill oryx in kings fall raid we never find out what happens to the tablets of ruin i think who ever has these possibly eris ) has the power to talk to the deep and will surely come back to haunt us in destiny 2

  15. i think mabye the energy of the tribute is killing logic. i think this because oryx supposedly used killing logic(or sword logic) to gain the power of his siblings by killing them, this has led me to believe that the energy is the power of the lifeforms they kill.

  16. So, is Oryx really dead? the Hive Gods can only die permanently within their own Throne Worlds. but the Dreadnaught and Altar of Oryx was technically his Throne Word built to guard against intrusion

  17. It just hit me that you do the beginning of kingsfall, because it's Oryx's High Court, and you're challenging him in the ways of the hive. that's so cool

  18. If Destiny was made into a movie, I think it would be the one and only time that a movie based off of a video game was not only good, but better than the game itself. Honsetly, it would make one HELL of a movie/series.

  19. Hive/worm logic is: kill thousands – and you can open portal/rift in space; kill hundreds of thousands – and you can bend reality, and revive hive gods from their true death.
